Andrew Beverly

Name: Andrew Beverly
Job: Independent Financial Adviser
Industry: Financial Services
Class of: 2005
House: Bannerman

What do you do?

I’m an Independent Financial Adviser within my family’s business ABFM, which provides advice on Life Insurance, Health Insurance, Pensions and Investments.

How did you get to where you are today?

After HSOG, I studied a BA (Hons) Business Studies and then a MSc Financial Services, Risk & Operations at Glasgow Caledonian University. I went on to do a DipFA with the London Institute of Banking and Finance. I got to where I am through hard work and determination!

What is a standout memory of your time at The High School of Glasgow?

I have a few standout memories from my time at the High School: rugby on a Saturday morning and taking part in the Duke of Edinburgh Gold Award were particular highlights. Of course, constantly getting the wrath of Mr Broadbent for having my hands in my pockets while walking down the N Corridor is a memory that comes to mind!

What one piece of advice would you give to current pupils and recent leavers as they look to their futures?

Take all the support that the teachers offer; they have all been in the situations that you are currently in. And importantly, don’t be afraid to ask questions!
